Viewpoint of the Hill of São Pedro

 
From the vicinity of the Abrantes Castle, visitors can enjoy views of the River Tagus and the south bank. The Viewpoint of the Hill of São Pedro is a small hill which was transformed in a military stronghold in 1809 and which must have been the first seat of the S. Pedro Church. 

In 1968, the President of the Republic Admiral Américo Tomás inaugurated here a monument in honour of D. Nuno Álvares Pereira, which the municipality had commissioned to the sculptor António Augusto Lagoa Henriques.
