Saint Nuno de Santa Maria Pilgrimage

 
In the month of April it happens in Sertã a pilgrimage in honour of Saint Nuno de Santa Maria. This celebration has two strands: one religious and the other secular. Performances by both popular music and folk groups are added to the religious procession and celebrations. 

The Holy Constable, Nuno Álvares Pereira, who was one of the main warriors in the history of Portugal, was born in Cernache do Bonjardim in 1360. He was beatified in 1918 with the name Nuno Santa Maria.
