| According to an old legend, the Santo António Chapel of Entre Vinhas was the second to be built in the country, in 1232, a year after the canonization of the country’s most popular saint. The erosion of the entrance steps is due to this being a quite popular place of pilgrimage.
On the inside, the walls are covered with tiles from the 17th century, among which three panels depicting the life of Saint António stand out. The stone image of the saint, made in the 15th century, shows a touching serenity. Discover on the outside a small, but beautiful, cross which announces the proximity of the chapel. |
