| The Parish Church of Cernache do Bonjardim, devoted to São Sebastião, began to be built in 1555.
The church of Renaissance features has a tripartite ceiling, three gilded carving altars and presbytery with wall panels covered with figurative tiles. It is divided in three naves, set apart by five round arches based on Tuscan columns. The walls are lined with figurative white and blue tile panels, which represent scenes of the life of São Sebastião, and at the centre has a gilded carving altarpiece. Admire the six lateral altars and the eighteenth-century tiles which cover the walls of the presbytery, being the ceilings of the naves lined with wood. It was classified as Public Interest Property in 1960. |
