Nossa Senhora do Carmo Church

The Nossa Senhora do Carmo Church, built in 1558, was part of the former Convent of S. Gregório Magno. Classified as Public Interest Property, the temple is the biggest in the city of Torres Novas.

On the outside of the church it stands out the pilasters of the central body, the lateral cornerstones, the main gate from 1689 and the wide elliptical oculus between the window and the cross pinnacle.

The temple has a barrel vault ceiling and four lateral chapels. Discover inside the round triumphal arch, which has on the vertex the coat of arms of the Almeidas e Novais, and the seventeenth-century tiles.
