| The Misericórdia Church is a seventeenth-century temple of small dimensions. The façade is symmetrical and harmonious. The gate is surmounted by a gracious niche which houses a statue of Senhora da Fé.
Tiles from the mid-seventeenth century fill the interior. Be amazed mainly by the ones which decorate the stone pulpit. The carving altarpiece of the main altar, whose gold has disappeared with the passing of the years, and the coat of arms of King Pedro II, who reigned in Portugal when the church was completed, are notable. Twenty-four numbered tombs are lined on the ground, filling the entire space reserved to the faithful. |
