Vasco de Lima Couto House Museum

The House Museum, which opened in 1981 with the presence of the President of the Republic general Ramalho Eanes, keeps personal objects of the poet Lima Couto, as well as many written documents, in particular letters exchanged with friends, and a rich art collection comprising furniture and paintings. The poet lived here during the last four years before his death.

The palatial house, built at the end of the 18th century, was also the residence of other important local and national people, such as Passos Manuel (a former minister), Jacinto de Sousa Falcão and his wife, who descended from the lineage of the twelve of England, the general-governor of Angola Francisco de Oliveira Moncada and the painter and teacher José Campas.
