Doll’s Museum

Be enchanted by the diverse collection of dolls, owned by Rosa Maria Vieira. At this museum, managed by the Municipal Council of Alcanena, one can admire dolls with several shapes and sizes and made from various materials.

The permanent exhibition of the Doll’s Museum gathers various dolls’ models made of ceramic. The delicacy of the manufacturing materials and the elegance of the clothing are the reason why these items are mainly decorative pieces. At this room, there are not only miniatures (dolls for playhouses and display cabinets) but also bigger items, suitable for the decoration of larger places.

In a casual and relaxed atmosphere, at the temporary exhibitions, one can also appreciate modern dolls made of fabric, Styrofoam, wood, rubber and plastic, which the youngsters played, and still play, with. So, this visit is also a journey through generations.

At the Doll’s Hospital, an interactive space, one can watch the owner of the collection repairing toys, in order to convey to the visitors the importance of heritage conservation.
