Tigeledas are one of the most popular confectioneries in the region, existing different recipes depending on the town they are made in. They are mainly typical of the municipalities of Abrantes, Ferreira do Zêzere and Sardoal. 

The name of this monastic confectionery is related to the fact of it being baked in a clay bowl (“tigela”) previously heated.

Torres Novas Figs


Torres Novas Figs are a typical confectionery with dried figs, almond kernels, sugar and egg yolks. The shape of a cross is cut in the figs and their inside is filled with an almond dough ball.

Almonds and figs are two of the most important traditional ingredients of the Torres Novas region.
