Routes

The Orchard Garden, which accompanies the Camões Statue, is an ode to the poet’s work. Designed by the architect Gonçalo Ribeiro Teles and inaugurated in 1990, it gathers the entire flora mentioned in the works by Camões: 52 species. Stroll through the Macao Garden and enjoy the Ptolomeu Planetarium at the open air auditorium. See as well the tiles panel which represents every single part of the world where Camões stepped: from Lisbon to Macao, passing by Africa and India. The biggest armillary sphere in Portugal marks the 500 years of the Discoveries, which were immortalised by the poet in “Os Lusíadas”.
