The Barquinha Park is the place chosen by the inhabitants of the municipality of Vila Nova da Barquinha to pass the spare time.

Enjoy this place while walking, doing jogging, playing with the children, riding a bicycle, playing football or simply appreciating the riverside landscape and the natural surroundings of rare beauty.

Created by the duo of landscape architects Hipólito Bettencourt and Joana Sena Rego, the Barquinha Park replaced the fine oozy mud with a vast green meadow, where close to 700 trees grow.

It won the Annual Landscape Architecture Prize in 2007 in the category of “Outdoor Spaces for Public Use”.
