Routes

The building, where currently one can find the Alexandre O’Neill Municipal Library, is a symbol of education and culture. Built between 1912 and 1917, it housed during 70 years a school for students of both genres and the living space for the teachers.

After temporarily housing the town hall, between the end of the 80’s and 1990, it assumed the role of Municipal Library in 1994.

It started to be called Alexandre O’Neill Municipal Library in 2005 to honour the poet who had lived during many years in Constância. Alexandre O’Neill donated to the municipality his personal library, which is available to the public at one of the rooms of the building.
